I was happy to be invited to contribute to author John Scalzi’s Big Ideas blog, in which authors describe the big idea behind their works. For ONE OF US, I was able to share the nonfiction idea behind the novel, which started as a misunderstood monster story and became a much more ambitious examination of prejudice.

THE WASHINGTON POST listed ONE OF US (Orbit, July 18, 2018) as one of the three “best science fiction and fantasy books out this month”, writing, “Its portrayal of hatred feels all too real — and will stay with you long after the book is done.”
The other novels were Prentice Rollins’ THE FURNACE (Tor) and Rich Larson’s ANNEX (Orbit).
