WORMS IN THE NEEDLE by Jonathan Moon–a very cool guy I’ve gotten to know visiting Seattle for horror cons, and a fellow Permuted Press author–is an apocalyptic gorefest with an awesome, freaky premise.
What if a new drug–consisting of little neon worms you inject into your skin–got most of humanity so hooked the whole world became junkies?
The story follows a man and woman who awake from a colossal high to find themselves crashing and needing another fix. They set out into the ruined city. What follows is a barrage of sex and violence so weird it’s borderline bizarro genre.
A lot more could have done with the concept, but I think Jonathan went as far as he intended. The story reads fast and short and doesn’t go too deep. The result is raw, titillating and pulpy.
If you like weird in your horror, check it out.
