In THE OLD MAN AND THE WASTELAND by Nick Cole, a short post-apocalyptic homage to THE OLD MAN OF THE SEA, an old scavenger journeys from his village in search of the ultimate salvage. The tense jumps around and I could have done without the silly right wing mythology, but overall I enjoyed the simple story of a man fighting the hazards of a nuclear wasteland to bring prosperity to his people.
Pretty good book. Not the best I’ve read, but refreshingly simple (agreed with the right-wing s…er…stuff). Also, I didn’t find the ending to be entirely satisfying. It was good for a night’s read and I don’t regret buying it.
