I’m a big fan of John Skipp and his work with Cody Goodfellow and Craig Spector. SPORE, THE BRIDGE, THE SCREAM, the list goes on. Somehow, I missed this gem: THE LAST GODDAMN HOLLYWOOD MOVIE. I had the pleasure of seeing Skipp at the World Horror Convention and snapped up this short book.
The book tells the story of a group of film industry people who decide to make a movie in the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust. They brave the radioactive wasteland, psychotic Marines, typical Hollywood infighting and roving marauders to make their movie, which they hope will resurrect a dead America. Simply put, the book is as insane as the slowly dying people who inhabit it, with a great voice and a terrific sense of humor. It’s classic Skipp and Goodfellow. If you like their work, you’ll love this.
Highly recommended for those looking for some fun with their apocalypse.
