THE BAY by director Barry Levinson is coming out November 2, and based on the trailer, it looks great. First, a warning: This is yet another found-footage horror film, but the format appears to achieve its purpose in this case. The film pieces together news reports, security camera footage, Skype sessions, 9-11 calls and similar elements (surfacing in spite of a government coverup) to tell the horrifying events that occurred in Claridge, MD on July 4, 2009, in which a waterborne parasite infects the population through the water supply, eating people from the inside out. It’s gruesome and thrilling, and I’ll definitely be checking this one out when it becomes available.
