After reading THE WOMAN by Jack Ketchum, I picked up OFF SEASON, about a writer who rents a remote cabin in rural Maine and invites friends to visit, not knowing she has been marked by a tribe of modern cannibals. Before the slasher films of the 80s, there was Ketchum … At times sadistic and nauseating, OFF SEASON caused an uproar at the time for its graphic violence, and even today’s jaded would find it gripping.
