HORNS, starring Daniel Radcliffe and also featuring the spooky Juno Temple and one of my favorite emerging actors, Joe Anderson, brings the great novel by Joe Hill to life.
In HORNS, Ig Perrish stands accused of raping and murdering his girlfriend. Rejected, despairing and angry, he performs a sacrilegious act, which imbues him with a pair of devil’s horns. These horns force whoever he’s with to spill their darkest secrets and desires, which they’ll act on if he gives them permission.
Ig is horrified by his power until he learns to use it to try to solve the mystery of who killed his beloved. Though he feels powerful enough to finally act, the results throughout his journey are heartbreaking, as he learns things about friends and family that he didn’t want to know, including how negatively they regard him.
A great story (excellent adaptation) and terrific performances, particularly by Radcliffe, make this a dark fantasy to watch. Recommended.
