In CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD, a priest hangs himself, opening the gates of hell and allowing the dead to rise from the grave. Have not seen it yet myself but the trailer reminds me of those creepy 1970s haunted house films that would freak me out for days and give me nightmares as a kid.
It’s a great film, though uneven. There are plenty of cheesy Euro-schlock moments but I’ll be damned if anyone denies that Fulci milks the second half for every last drop of misty atmosphere he can get into each frame.
