I will be attending the Horror Writers Association’s World Horror Convention June 13-16 in New Orleans. If you’re attending, let me know!
My Deal With Simon & Schuster
I am proud to announce today that I have signed a deal with Simon & Schuster for publication of my new horror novel, SUFFER THE CHILDREN.
Here’s the synopsis:
SO MANY MOUTHS TO FEED.
One day, everywhere around the world, the children die.
Three days later, they return from the grave.
And ask for blood.
With blood, they stop being dead. They stop rotting. They laugh and play. They become the children they once were.
But only for a short time. An hour, maybe two. Too soon, they die again.
And need more blood to live …
The average body holds ten pints of blood.
How far would you go to bring your child back?
The novel explores the idea that love can make people monsters. It’s not so much an emotional roller coaster as an emotional vise that keeps squeezing.
The novel will be published as part of Simon & Schuster’s co-publishing deal with Permuted Press, a company I’m obviously already familiar with. The deal was agented by The Agency Group.
No firm publication date yet, but I’m hoping by the end of the fall. However, it could be 2014. I hope to have more information soon.
Thanks for supporting my work! That support made this deal possible!
Joining the Horror Writers Association
I’m very pleased today to announce that my application to join the prestigious Horror Writers Association as an Active Member has been approved.
Founded in the late 1980s by writers such as Dean Koontz, Robert McCammon and Joe Lansdale, the HWA today has more than 800 members around the world.
It’s a real honor to be counted among such great writers, and I look forward to the fellowship and opportunities it offers.
Going To HorrorHound In September
I’ll be selling and signing copies of THE KILLING FLOOR, THE INFECTION and TOOTH AND NAIL at HorrorHound September 7-9, 2012, joining other Permuted Press authors Timothy Long, Eloise Knapp and Jessica Meigs. The show looks like it’s going to be great, with some awesome celebrity guests including Michael Biehn, Casanda Peterson (Elvira), Lance Henrikson, Tom Savini, Linda Hamilton and others. Hope to see you there! Learn more about this convention here.

Coming To Crypticon
I’ll be returning to Seattle May 25-27 to attend Crypticon at the Hilton Seattle Airport and Conference Center, joining some great Permuted Press authors. I’ll be at a table signing books, including THE KILLING FLOOR, THE INFECTION and TOOTH AND NAIL, and will be speaking on two panels: “Zombies: Why Won’t They Die?” at 3:00 PM on Saturday, and “Permuted Press Authors Discuss Zombie Fiction” at 1:00 PM on Sunday.
Also be sure to sign up for Zombie Tag, which looks like it’s going to be a cool event.
Hope to see you there!
