BATTLEDOGS (2013) tells the story of a werewolf virus that results in an outbreak at La Guardia Airport near New York City. The wolves are contained and taken to a special facility, where some labor on a cure while others–notably the general in charge of the operation–see a chance to weaponize the virus. Sounds good, right? The film actually starts off fairly well. But wait, this is an Asylum production, and Asylum spends virtually nothing on its screenplays. As a result, while the effects are half-decent and they hired a great cast of actors, the story stumbles blindly from one overworked trope to the next, characters change personalities mid-sentence and otherwise behave idiotically, and by the halfway mark, pretty much everything stops making sense.
