In THE DAY THE EARTH CAUGHT FIRE, a great classic film, nuclear testing that changes the axis of the earth, creating a global heat wave that threatens all life on the planet. The story centers on a washed up British reporter, who unravels the government coverup. The USA and USSR detonate more devices in the hopes that they will correct the deviation. The special effects are very good for the time. In one version of the film, the viewer is left with uncertainty as to whether they succeeded.

This was actually quite a good movie. Scary as hell too, despite the lack of new technologies.
