In DEADGIRL, Rickie and JT, high school losers, explore an abandoned asylum and find a mute, naked woman chained to a table. JT rapes the woman while Rickie refuses, and then, after trying to kill her, finds out that she is undead. What follows is a story about people as monsters, about zombie as victim, about how far JT and Rickie will go to get what they want. An interesting little horror tale, imho, well told.

In ZOMBIES AND CIGARETTES, Xavi and Carol, the girl of his dreams, find themselves trapped in a mall, fighting to survive against fast-moving rabid flesh eaters after a zombie outbreak. You can watch part one for free at YouTube below. I enjoyed what I saw and would recommend it. Spanish with English subtitles.

In FRAILTY (2001), a father of two young boys is called by God to begin murdering average people who he claims are not really people, but demons. Is their father insane? Or is God really guiding his hand? While 10 years old, this film still works on many levels. If you have not yet seen it, check it out.

In the Serbian film ZONE OF THE DEAD (2009), InterPol agents must join forces with their dangerous prisoner to fight zombie hordes. Some of the reviews were pretty poor for this film, but it stars Ken Foree, the awesome SWAT guy from Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD, so I might have to check this one out.

SKYLINE tells the story of a group of people in a high-rise building trying to survive as aliens land in LA and begin colonization. It was fun and I liked it (more than I did BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, in fact, with its sap, halting storyline and wildly shaking camera). There seems to be no hope for humanity as the aliens appear almost invincible, and then, oddly, just when you think it’s over, it ends on a note of hope.

Found two deleted scenes for 28 WEEKS LATER, running back to back. The first is a scene where Don and his family, safely in the quarantine zone, have breakfast with Scarlet, the U.S. Army doctor who examines Andy upon his arrival. The second is much more powerful, showing what’s going on Andy’s head when he becomes infected.

In this deleted scene from 28 DAYS LATER, Jim and Selena search an abandoned train that was used by the Red Cross to treat victims of the Rage epidemic.

There are other deleted scenes available on YouTube, but none of them struck me as particularly interesting. If you’re interested in seeing them, look them up on YouTube.

THE WAR GAME (1965) is Peter Watkins’ Academy Award-winning classic mockumentary about a nuclear war between the Soviet Union and America and its allies. Because of its graphic depiction of the consequences of nuclear war, the BBC suppressed it until 1985. Scary as hell and highly recommended.

Here it is, in its entirety (all five parts), for you to view:
