One of the commercials for the first LEFT 4 DEAD. I love the song choice for the commercial with the refrain THESE ARE MY FRIENDS NOW–during a zombie apocalypse, it is quite possible, if not probable, that you would end up having to trust total strangers with your life.

In short zombie film LOVE OF THE DEAD, a man will do anything for the person he loves. For me, it gets to the greatest horror that would occur during a zombie apocalypse–the fact that even though our loved ones may change into zombies, they still wear the faces of those we love, and we still love them even as we kill them, and they kill us.

LOST ZOMBIES, which won 3rd place in the California Independent Film Festival Iron Filmmaker Challenge, tells the story of a man and his wife trying to survive the zombie apocalypse, until an accident occurs. The atmosphere is extremely well rendered, although I found the ending to be confusing. It would have been very poignant if the man found out his wife was infected and allowed her to infect him so they could stay together.

A man wanders the zombie wasteland, fighting to escape, while a woman searches for candy. They connect briefly, making them feel normal, if only for a fleeting moment. I loved the atmosphere the filmmakers created, particularly the zombie moans.
